Km
(= Michaelis constant)
A kinetic parameter used to characterize an enzyme; defined as the concentration of substrate that permits half-maximal rate of reaction. An analogous constant Ka is used to describe binding reactions, in which case it is the concentration at which half the receptors are occupied.
